Beck mentions that when underscoring, the music should generally not draw attention to itself, and should be sensitive to what’s happening on screen; however, there are moments in movies where the music does get its chance to shine.

Beck also mentions that while being sensitive to the picture is of utmost importance, the underlying music still needs to be great!
